PROSOPIS PUBESCENS

Prosopis pubescens

BOTANICAL NAME: Prosopis pubescens
COMMON NAME: Screwbean Mesquite
DESCRIPTION: A moderately fast-growing, small tree with a mature height to 20'-25' and equal spread. The curious tightly spiraled seed pods, thin thorns and blue-green, lacy foliage make this a unique, yet hardy choice for desert landscapes.
LANDSCAPE USES: This plant works well as a barrier, or retention tree or pruned up as a specimen accent. Smaller size lends itself to courtyards, planters or landscapes with view easement restrictions.
LANDSCAPE LOCATIONS:
CARE: Does best in well-drained, sandy loam. Prune to keep thorny branches out of pedestrian areas.
