BOTANICAL NAME: Pinus eldarica
COMMON NAME: Afghan Pine
DESCRIPTION: Tall, symmetrical pine to 50' tall by 15' to 20' wide. Needles are slightly twisted. Retains its pine tree shape in maturity. Often sheered and sold as Christmas trees. Cold hardy to 10°.
LANDSCAPE USES: Planted in groups to create a forest effect or barrier. Large scale good for golf courses and parking lots. Plant on west side of buildings for shade. Not a good selection for planting in former farmlands due to cotton root rot.

CARE: Low demand tree that is tolerant of a wide range of landscape conditions. Needles are litter problem. Is susceptible to cotton root rot.
